Inés Arrubla Flamenco Dance Theater fuses the musical cultures of flamenco, jazz, Latin and funk with original flamenco choreography. The company’s performances transcend cultural barriers, creating an environment for an organic connection to occur. Juxtaposing tradition and innovation, its repertoire exhibits the smoldering passion characteristic of flamenco, with the seemingly divergent sounds of funk, Jazz, and Latin music. Improvisation and choreography are exquisitely woven throughout.

Artistic Director Inés Arrubla founded Inés Arrubla Flamenco Dance Theater in 1990 in Amsterdam, under the name Inés Arrubla Dansprodukties. The company performed throughout The Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium, in theaters such as the Stadsschouwburg of Utrecht, the Melkweg and the Meervart in Amsterdam.

Since 1998, when Arrubla moved to the United States, Inés Arrubla Flamenco Dance Theater has performed at The International Fringe Festival in New York City, The Academy of Music and The Iron Horse in Northampton, MA, The Carriage House in Providence, Rhode Island, the Dance Complex in Boston and other venues throughout Massachusetts and New York. Inés Arrubla Flamenco Dance Theater brings audiences into the heart of flamenco, that mysterious place where energies transmute and magic occurs.
